Pips Diary
Today was the craziest day ever. I climbed the midnight run in the dark.
I walked into the room pitch black and decided I would climb up to the line. I put my hands and on the wall and started to climb. Up and up I went, hold after hold. Each time reaching my hand into the darkness searching for the next hold. I got to the line,my hands aching, but I felt a urge to carry on.
I kept climbing higher and higher. Soon enough, I got higher. I look down into the darkness, nothing, nothing to be seen just a dark mist. I turned back and focused on climbing and got up to this big hold. Suddenly a light turned on. A man walked across the room trying to find his keys. I thought for a moment, my hand were hurting, should I shout help or not. I shouted ‘HELP!’
He looked up at me, and said. ‘What you doing up there for kid’. I didn't reply. He said
‘I'll help you down then you can explain. He started to explain, put your foot down on to that blue and put your hand out to the side hold. But I didn't want to let go of the big hold. He said,
‘Come on down kid the sooner you do it the easier it will be. I finally let go of the hold and put my hand on the lower hold. He carried on explain how to get down the climb.
I got to the bottom and placed my foot on the ground, satisfied I was on the ground. He said, ‘ If I forget my keys you would have probably hurt yourself really bad or even get killed.’ The guy introduced himself and then ask me what my name was, I said ‘Phil’. ‘Well done you climbed the midnight run in the dark.’
‘Meet me on Saturday at the grand opening, come and say hi.’ I said ‘ok,’ and walked out the door round the corner down the stair and out onto the car park. I walked over to my bike still frazzled from what just happened. I hoped on my bike and road home.
When I got home the table was being set so I quickly ran to my room. Chucked my bag down onto my bed and raced back into the kitchen and help Nick finish setting the table. At dinner time Dad asked what had happened today I said, ‘Nothing much, Dad.’
He said ‘ well that's not the thing that Katie's dad said. He said the mainlands selector was coming this Saturday.’ I didn't reply. We finished dinner and I went up to my room and started to practice juggling...
I am proud of this work because it is unique and interesting, because I explained it differently. We did this for an 'Edmodo' task.
