Someday Angeline
By Louis Sachar
“‘Octopus,’said Angeline Persopolis. She was only a baby. It was the first word she’d ever said which was why it was preposterous”
Someday Angeline is a good book by Louis Sachar, about a little girl who knows heaps and heaps about the ocean even though she’s never been there. Her name is Angeline and she is extremely smart and is in the highest grade where everyone is mean to her, including the teacher who is called Mrs Hardlick. She makes friends with a boy her age called Gary Boone who is a funny character and makes heaps of jokes and names himself Goon, a mixture of his two names. Goon’s teacher is called Miss Turbone, but he calls her Mr Bone. Angeline's dad, Abel, is a garbage collector and she wants to be just like him. She gets nominated to be a school garbage collector but when she tells her dad, he makes her quit. But Mrs Hardlick doesn’t listen to her and makes her pick up all the rubbish anyway. She gets angry and messes up everything in the room and then she runs off to the aquarium. When she gets there she realises that she knows every name of every animal at the aquarium without looking at the name plates. One day she catches the bus to the sea by herself because her dad doesn’t want to take her. She goes to the end of the pier and jumps off.
“Abel’s face was now streaked with tears. ‘Hospital,’ he whispered.”
I think that Someday Angeline is an intriguing book and it is a really good read. I would rate this book ★★★★☆.
