The plot in this book is when Morgan one of the Spook's apprentice tried to raise Golgoth the Winter God  from the grimoire a book with rituals for the dark . The characters include the Spook , Tom Ward , Tom Wards mum , Morgan , Alice , Meg and Meg's sister a feral lamia witch.It's set in the Spooks winter house , It's got feral witches in the cellar and a bogart stirring things up on the moors close by.

I’d classify this book as a fantasy mystery kind of book . The author did a good job with this book it made me want to keep reading, it had me hooked!!

I like the way The author … uses descriptive words, like on page 74  says “...the cloud had cleared and a full moon was shining, casting its silvery light down onto the clough to be reflected back by the stream”. He also keeps you hooked with exciting battles and cliff hanging chapters like in the first chapter Tom ward finds out about morgan but it tells us nothing about him .

Loved every page of it The author's inspiration was from another book series called the Last Apprentice and that he moved into a town that had a boggart in it, so he thought to write about an expert who deals with these creatures -The Spook .
