Ella's Book Review

“Cookie”
By Jacqueline Wilson

Cookie is a beautiful story about a family of three, Beauty Cookson and her Mother and Father. Unfortunately Beauty looks at herself as ugly and in the end all the girls at school start calling her “Ugly” as a nickname and Beauty doesn't like it. Overall this book is about a girl and her family living in a in a “Happy Home”. Her father is filthy rich and her mother is not so much.

Since Beauty was little, her father always bullied the two girls. Hitting them and using inappropriate language. Beauty and her Mum bought a baking book and learn how to make cookies of all sorts of different flavours. They make the cookies for all sorts of different people. In the end Beauty and her Mum are sick of Beauty’s father hitting and smacking them and saying she is useless at cooking so they head off on a road trip to find a seaside town to live in forever.

On the way they meet lots of family and friends. They finally find the most wonderful place called in Bunny Cove. There is a main street with kids walking around and heaps of shops. There is a cove with a sandy beach. It has park benches and and a place where you can hire everything. Then the next street down has a street of motels, hotels and B&Bs. There was one a the end that belonged to a man they meet at the beach. The man “Mike” lets them stay at his B&B. Beauty finds a new talent (kind of), her Mum gets a job. They find a school for Beauty to go to and she get a new nickname and meets lots of friends at her own age. I think this book is a great read and i read it in one week. I would definitely recommend this book to someone. I rate this book five out of five stars. I would say  this book is for reader 11 years and older. It is a great read as the story line goes up and down through out the whole book. I think this book is one of the best ones I have read in a while!!!
