The Ruby Redfort series is written by Lauren Child. Ruby Redfort is a series of six and ‘Take Your Last Breath’ is the second book.

Ruby is a 13 year old girl and is an ace code cracker.Ruby works for Spectrum a secret spy agency. Strange things have been going on in Twinford, like someone is following her. Birds and sea life are flocking inland, reports of hearing strange sounds, pirates are attacking the boats at sea and some very odd shipping is going on. Ruby Redfort is determined to figure out what is going on.

I really enjoyed this book because there were heaps of mysteries inside one mystery and you never knew the answers till the very end. You were always kept on edge not really knowing what was going to happen until you turned the page. Every time I picked up this book I couldn't put it down. It had lots of suspense throughout the book.

I didn’t dislike anything in this book. ‘Take Your Last Breath’ is a great mystery book, because you never knew what would happen next, such as when Ruby had no choice but to dive without air or else she would be stuck in the ocean.

The Ruby Redfort series was inspired by  Clarice Bean series,Clarice Bean started as a picture book and then became novels. The Ruby Redfort series was also written to show girls that it is good to be clever, brave and love maths and adventures. Ruby Redfort ‘Take Your Last Breath’ will keep you hooked to the very end.
